In this help section we discuss general topics related to the management of the PanaForma application
To copy data to the clipboard or export it to a file, a PanaForma subscription is required.
PanaForma offers a one-month free trial subscription to new users. If you decide to cancel the subscription during the free trial period, you will not be charged.
A subscription is charged month-to-month, with no long-term commitment required. You can cancel your subscription at any time.
If you are not subscribed, you will see a banner at the top of the Data Extracts screen with a button to begin the subscription sign-up process. If you don't see this banner, you already have an active subscription.
If you have a subscription, go to your Microsoft Services & Subscriptions home page, where you can check your subscription's status or cancel it (https://account.microsoft.com/services).
PanaForma is a Windows application that runs only on your computer. It is not a web application or a cloud service — it stores all of its data on your computer's hard-drive. Your files and data remain only on your system, and are not copied by PanaForma to any other location.
As with any data/files on your computer, it is your responsibility (or the responsibility of a system-administrator in some organizations) to ensure that you make regular back-ups to help prevent loss of data due to hardware failures, damage, theft, etc…
PanaForma stores the configured list of folders, the Template and Field definitions, and the data captured from forms in a data file on your computer's hard-drive. The name of this file is “panaforma.db”, and it is stored in a sub-folder of your Windows user account's “AppData” folder. The exact location of the file will vary according to your username in Windows. Here's an example for a user named Bob: C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Local\Packages\ForwardLogicLtd.PanaForma_ajqcs4k1pjzge\LocalState\panaforma.db
If you have any questions or concerns about your computer's files and data being backed-up, please consult a technical support person for advice.
To move PanaForma to a new computer, you will need to install PanaForma on the new computer, and then copy the PanaForma data file from the old computer to the new computer.
This process covers moving the PanaForma data file only, which stores folder, Template, and Field definitions, and the data captured from forms. It does not include the actual PDF form files themselves, which you will need to move separately if they are stored on the old computer.
The steps are:
Search for PanaForma in the Microsoft Store and install just as you did on the old computer. If you're using the same Microsoft account on both computers, your subscription from the old computer will become active on the new computer. If you need to use a different Microsoft account on the new computer, you may choose to cancel the subscription on the old account, and sign-up for a new subscription on the new account.
PanaForma stores its data on your computer's hard-drive in a file named “panaforma.db”. The exact location of the file will vary according to your username in Windows. Here's an example for a user named Bob: C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Local\Packages\ForwardLogicLtd.PanaForma_ajqcs4k1pjzge\LocalState\panaforma.db
Identify the destination folder for the PanaForma data file on the new computer, and copy the “panaforma.db” file to that folder on the new computer.
If your Windows username is the same on both computers, it's likely the folder location will be the same on both. If you have a different Windows username on the new computer, the location of the folder will vary. Note that the destination folder will only exist if you've already installed PanaForma on the new computer (Step 1 above).
If you've already launched the PanaForma app on the new computer, you will see an existing “panaforma.db” file in the folder. If no data has been added to the app on the new computer, this file can be safely deleted before copying the file from the old computer. If in doubt, leave the file but change its name, for example: “new_computer_panaforma.db”
With the “panaforma.db” file from the old computer in place on the new computer, start PanaForma and check that your data from the old computer appears in the app. If the folders you were using were on the old computer, you will need to copy any folders needed to the new computer, and re-add them to PanaForma.
